"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

The painting features a cluster of trees with their branches stretching upwards and intersecting, creating a dynamic and somewhat chaotic web against a soft, muted background. The branches are bold and dark, providing a stark contrast to the lively and thicker impasto strokes depicting autumn leaves in a palette of yellows, whites, and hints of red. The leaves are densely packed at some points on the branches, suggesting a lush canopy, while in other areas, they appear to be thinning, evoking the transient beauty of the autumn season. The overall mood is both vibrant and somber, encapsulating the essence of autumn's dual nature of decay and richness.
