"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

This painting by Kristina Česonytė is vibrant and abstract. The background is a soft pink, creating a gentle contrast. A blue shape sits on top, bold and wavy. Two green circles appear as focal points. One green circle is larger and seems to form an eye-like shape. Below that, a smaller green spot adds balance. Swirling black lines snake across the piece, adding fluidity. The colors blend in an intriguing way. The style is modern and expressive. Česonytė's work often explores emotions and imagination. Here, the paint looks thick, almost textured. It's a lively and dynamic piece, rich in color and movement.
